The Munich transport logistics Fair will open its gates again after two years. From 9 to 12 May, it will present the latest products and services from transport and logistics. The exhibition grounds in the Bavarian metropolis will be attended by largest and most significant carriers and logistics operators in the world which shape this industry and bring the latest technology of Industry 4.0 and Logistics 4.0. We discussed the details of the oncoming fair with Ing. Jaroslav Vondruška from the Czech representation of the organizing company Messe München.
What attendance do organizers expect at this year’s fair transport logistic?
More than 2,000 exhibitors from 60 countries will take part in the fair on an exhibition space of 120,000 m2. Most exhibitors come from Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, France, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Great Britain, Switzerland and Spain. The Czech and Slovak Republics will again take part in the trade fair at a record level. From both countries in total, 65 exhibitors will come to exhibit on an area of 1 600 m2. More than 55,000 professionals from around the world are expected to visit the fair.
Will this year be any different from previous ones?
I would say lapidary: by its size, as the trade fair space is increased by 8,000 square meters compared to the previous year in 2015. In addition, the major European manufacturers of rail vehicles and locomotives for cargo transport will be present in the open area. Very strong presence has the section of air transport services in the field of air cargo Europe 2017, where 150 airlines from around the world will present their services. This year’s fair is especially different in the accompanying programme that is really loaded with topical lectures by the top experts from around the world.
Will transport logistic also offer its traditionally rich accompanying program?
One of the themes of the accompanying program is the current issue of growing markets for logistics – China, India, Poland, the USA and South Africa. Throughout the duration of the fair, expert lectures on growing logistics markets will go on. What is, for example, the main topic for the US logistics market? Start-up companies in the US are already working hard and they are entering the classical logistics market – they are developing web applications that allow carriers to arrange their shipments directly with, with no intermediary. As surveys show, for example, the German logistics industry takes such a development very seriously and wants to take advantage of digital business models for success on the domestic market.
Another interesting and very pressing topic that is currently affecting many industrial sectors is the shortage of skilled workers. Therefore, high on the fair’s agenda, we find expert lectures on strategies for logistics companies to find the right employees.
Among other interesting topics, transport logistic will offer a solution for growing urbanization and many other accompanying events. Most of them are free for visitors of the fair.
What do the exhibitors consider to be the greatest gain of their participation in the Munich fair?
As every world-class trade fair, also transport logistic will create unique opportunities for traders, logistics or carriers from the whole world to meet face to face at one place and at the same time an opportunity to exchange their views on cooperation. Exhibitors in Munich regularly find new business partners. Simply, it is a trade fair with everything that belongs to it, and that’s why the whole world of logistics aims attention to it.
