This year’s 13th annual International Logistic Conference SpeedCHAIN has become history. What news did the conference offer to almost seven hundred participants from 8 countries, who traditionally filled up the Brevnov Monastery and did not leave a single seat vacant? This year’s SpeedCHAIN agenda was dominated by changes in logistic processes that reflect taking up of the qualitative supply chain developments known as Industry 4.0: implementation of automation, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things. Nine professionally focused sections and four panel discussions covered in all probability everything that shapes the supply chain changes at present. The conference programme was enriched by successful projects implemented by leading companies such as ŠKODA Auto, Budweiser Budvar, ESA logistika or Aberle Automation. Similarly, the charity collection initiated together by ESA logistika, a logistic service provider, and RELIANT, the conference organizer, brought excellent results. The aim was to collect as much money as possible for the purpose of acquirement of a heart massage device for the rescue emergency vehicle operated by the Association of Samaritans of Czech Republic, a non-profit organization assisting mainly at road accidents in the Central Bohemian Region.

An innovation, which for the first time contributed to the SpeedCHAIN’s social dimension, was the Beer Time Get-together, an afternoon event that agreeably bridged the all-day conference agenda organized in individual sections, and the following gala evening. With the kind support of Budweiser Budvar and Pastorek Winery, a totally new event format was created to provide space for informal networking of individual attendees over a glass of premium Czech beer or wine in the unique atmosphere of Benedictine Wine Cellar and Salla Terrena of the Brevnov Monastery.
VIP Logistic Rendezvous, held for the 24th time already, traditionally crowned the first conference day. Singer Olga Lounová elegantly emceed the gala evening accompanied with her LOUNERS music band. In addition to a delicious banquet, the social event featured hand-over ceremonies of several awards: Mgr. Martin Laipold accepted GRYF 2018 – Award for the Logistics Personality of the Year in the Theresian Hall; ESA logistika won EcoLOGI – The Environmental Project of the Year Award for their project Systematic Emission Reduction as a Corporate Social Responsibility Tool; while Budweiser Budvar accepted the winner trophy from the Czech Logistics Association Project of the Year competition for their project of the new logistic centre in Ceske Budejovice. And the brand new logistic centre was the destination of the participants of the tour organized on the second conference day. The fact that the tour was personally attended by Budweiser Budvar’s Pavel Pánek, Logistics Director, and Adam Brož, Director Production and Technology, emphasised the importance of the project to the brewery’s top management and their support to SpeedCHAIN 2018 conference.
